5/28/08-The Senate unanimously approved a bill that would require legislative approval prior to any deals to sell or lease bridges.
The Senate removed a provision in the bill that applied the rule solely to bridges more than five miles long. House lawmakers must agree to the change before the measure is cleared to advance to Gov. Bobby Jindal’s desk.
HB1081 also would require lawmakers to give prior approval of deals that transfer management, control or operation of bridges to public or private groups.

5/19/08-The Senate Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee cleared the way for a bill to move to the full Senate that would require legislative approval prior to any deals to sell or lease bridges more than five miles long.
