OOIDA Information Update – Montgomery County, MD, members
July 11, 2008
Heads up: Montgomery County, MD, truckers! You might want to make plans to attend a public meeting Tuesday, July 22, to voice your opinion about a county bill that would regulate where truckers can park their rigs.
Intending to address truck parking complaints, Montgomery County Council President Michael Knapp introduced Bill 27-08 to the Council last month. It would prohibit the parking of commercial vehicles, buses and recreational vehicles on public roadways in the county if either side of the street abuts a block containing a private residence, apartment, church, school, hospital or playground.
Truckers are encouraged to voice their opinions via e-mail, regular mail, or in person at the meeting. The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, at the Stella B. Werner Council Office Building, 100 Maryland Ave., Rockville, MD. Written comments are expected to be considered part of the public testimony on the issue.
To voice your concerns about the proposed legislation, send written comments to the bill’s sponsor:
