4/14/08-A bill has died that sought to extend the time period between mandatory state motor vehicle inspections from one year to two years. Commercial vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers would remain on the yearly inspection schedule.
The inspections are used to check the condition of running gears, steering mechanisms, brakes, exhaust systems, lights, safety glass and tires.
Sponsored by Rep. Bryan Kaenrath, D-South Portland, LD2112 didn’t include a provision to replace the lost revenue for transportation.
