4/23/08-A bill died that sought to temporarily suspend axle-weight fines.
Sponsored by Rep. Douglas Thomas, R-Ripley, LD2209 didn’t clear the Senate before the regular session adjourned. The House previously approved it.
The measure would have clarified that a vehicle transporting raw agricultural products or forest products that exceeds the axle weight limits and axle weight tolerance restrictions imposed under Maine law is not subject to a fine for a violation of those limits and restrictions unless the vehicle exceeds the maximum gross vehicle weight limits, including tolerances.

4/16/08-A bill awaiting final approval in the statehouse before moving to Gov. John Baldacci’s desk would temporarily suspend axle-weight fines on certain routes.
