12/31/08-A bill has died that sought to prohibit drivers in the first year they are licensed from transporting more than one passenger under age 18 other than family members.
Sponsored by Rep. Edward Gaffney, R-Grosse Pointe Farms, HB4151 would have made exceptions if drivers are accompanied by parents or guardians. Certain exceptions also applied for traveling to/from school.
6/16/08-The House approved a bill that would prohibit drivers in the first year they are licensed from transporting more than one passenger under age 18 other than family members. It now moves to the Senate.
