10/16/08-Gov. Jennifer Granholm has signed a bill into law that is intended to make construction zones safer for workers and drivers. It gives road crews more control over traffic in work zones.
The new law, previously HB5351, clarifies that while in construction zones, workers regulating traffic with signage alerting drivers to slow down or stop now must be obeyed before other traffic signals.
Failure to comply with the directions of highway workers is now a civil infraction.
