10/9/08-Gov. Jennifer Granholm has signed into law the $3.6 billion state transportation budget that allows the study of an additional Detroit-area bridge to Canada.
HB5808 allows the Michigan Department of Transportation to complete work on a Detroit River crossing study. The agency also can initiate planning, engineering and funding plans for a new bridge from Windsor to a site near Zug Island, but they cannot commit to a single site without approval from the Legislature.
9/26/08-The Legislature has reached agreement on the $3.6 billion state transportation budget that allows the study of an additional Detroit-area bridge to Canada. Gov. Jennifer Granholm is expected to sign the bill.
