12/31/08-A bill has died that sought to authorize counties to impose a county real estate transfer tax of up to 25 cents per $500 worth of property. Local voter approval would have been required for passage.
Sponsored by Rep. Gabe Leland, D-Detroit, HB6324 required revenue collected to be used solely for road work, public transit, rail service and landscaping.
