12/31/08-A bill died that sought to expand the state attorney general’s authority to investigate excessive fuel prices. Court-ordered subpoenas based on probable cause no longer would have been needed before proceeding with actions against suspected violators.
Sponsored by Sen. Mark Schauer, D-Battle Creek, SB1504 also called for defining what is considered to be grossly excessive pricing for goods and services.
An identical bill – HB6250 – met the same fate.
