6/5/08-A bill has died that was intended to help reduce idling.
Sponsored by Senate Transportation Chairman Bill Stouffer, R-Napton, SB811 was awaiting consideration on the Senate floor when the regular session ended, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would have created a tax credit for installing idle reduction technology for the next two years. The credit would have been equal to 50 percent of the amount of purchase and installation on class 8 trucks – up to $3,500 per truck.
The state would have been authorized to issue up to $10 million in tax credits annually.

3/4/08-The Senate Ways and Means Committee approved a bill that is intended to help reduce idling.
Sponsored by Senate Transportation Chairman Bill Stouffer, R-Napton, SB811 would create a tax credit for installing idle reduction technology for the next two years. The credit would be equal to 50 percent of the amount of purchase and installation on class 8 trucks – up to $3,500 per truck.
A provision added to the bill in committee would authorize the state to issue up to $10 million in tax credits annually.
The bill now moves to the Senate floor for further consideration.

12/11/07-With a few weeks remaining until the start of the legislative session, a bill that likely will draw consideration is intended to help reduce idling.
Sponsored by Senate Transportation Chairman Bill Stouffer, R-Napton, SB811 would create a tax credit for installing idle reduction technology for the next two years. The credit would be equal to 50 percent of the amount of purchase and installation on class 8 trucks – up to $3,500 per truck.
It is awaiting assignment to committee for the session that begins Jan. 9.
