2/22/08-A bill has died that sought to permit police to ticket drivers who fail to flip on their headlights during bad weather.
Sponsored by Rep. Rita Martinson, R-Madison, HB450 remained in the House Transportation Committee at the deadline to advance to the House floor, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill would have required lights to be on “whenever conditions necessitate the use of windshield wipers.” Drivers also would have been required to have their headlights on from sunset to sunrise.
Violators would have faced $25 fines.
A nearly identical bill – SB2212 – also died.
