2/22/08-A bill has died that would have authorized the Mississippi Department of Transportation to use radar on state highways to enforce speed limits solely on large trucks.
Sponsored by Rep. Bennett Malone, D-Carthage, HB603 remained in the House Transportation Committee at the deadline to advance to the House floor, effectively killing it for the year.
The bill sought to permit the MDOT’s law enforcement officers to track speeds of commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight in excess of 10,000 pounds.
