4/18/08-A bill has died that sought to define the state expressway system.
The expressway system is designed to connect midsize cities with Interstate 80. It has been in the works for two decades. About 180 miles of the 600-mile plan still need to be completed.
Sponsored by Sen. LeRoy Louden of Ellsworth, LB1034 would have added 220 miles to the 600 mile expressway system. The estimated cost to bring the additional miles up to expressway standards – four lanes – is $500 million.
