4/18/08-A bill has died that sought to require the Nebraska Department of Roads to prioritize completion of the state’s expressway system.
The expressway system is designed to connect midsize cities with Interstate 80. It has been in the works for two decades. About 180 miles of the 600-mile plan still need to be completed.
Sponsored by Sen. Mike Flood of Norfolk, LB1129 would have required the roads agency to make expressways a part of the roads-planning process each year. It also would have required consideration of economic development potential of better roads.
