4/18/08-A bill has died that sought to create the Expressway Construction Fund to transfer money from the state’s cash reserve fund for expressways.
The expressway system is designed to connect midsize cities with Interstate 80. It has been in the works for two decades. About 180 miles of the 600-mile plan still need to be completed.
Sponsored by Sen. Tim Gay of Papillion, LB771 would have sent $50 million from the state’s reserve for work on the state’s expressway system. It didn’t designate money for any specific highway.
