3/26/08-LB917 has died. Gov. Jon Heineman, however, signed another bill into law – LB756 – that includes the provision.

2/22/08-A bill has died that was intended to be used as an incentive to reduce idling and discourage violating out-of-service orders.
Sponsored by Sen. Deb Fischer of Valentine, LB917 was indefinitely postponed from consideration in the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee.
The bill would have increased the maximum weight limits for large trucks equipped with idle reduction technology. Affected trucks would have been authorized to weigh up to an additional 400 pounds.
The bill specified the weight allowance cannot be in addition to the “five-percent-in-excess-of-maximum-load” provision in existing state law.
