Nebraska

4/18/08-A legislative resolution has died that sought to require public hearings and updates from the Nebraska Department of Roads on the status of uncompleted portions of the state’s expressway system.
The expressway system is designed to connect midsize cities with Interstate 80. It has been in the works for two decades. About 180 miles of the 600-mile plan still need to be completed.
Sponsored by Sen. Mike Flood of Norfolk, LR232 included a provision that would require the committee to “address the important of economic development as a factor more urgent than traffic volume” in completion of the expressway system.
