7/21/08-A bill in the Senate Transportation Committee would establish a pilot program in the Department of Law and Public Safety to use infrared sensors for the inspection of commercial motor vehicles. The program would be used in the roadside safety inspection of trucks conducted by the State Police.
Sponsored by Sen. Shirley Turner, D-Mercer, S875 would be implemented only to the extent that federal funding is available to support it. The program would end in two years.
