4/15/08-A bill in the Assembly Ways and Means Committee would create the alternative fuel incentive fund.
Sponsored by Assemblyman George Amedore, Rotterdam, A5798 would promote the research, development and usage of alternative energy fuels, such as biodiesel.
Revenue from the fund would be directed as follows: $30 million for research and development; $27 million for the New York Thruway Authority to create alternative fuel stations on the thruway; and $27 million for a cellulosic ethanol refinery.
Tax credits, grants, investments and other incentives would be available for building alternative fueling stations and refineries.
