4/25/08-Gov. Phil Bredesen signed a bill into law making it illegal to park vehicles on highway ramps. It took effect immediately.
State law now prohibits vehicles from being parked along highway shoulders.
The new law, previously SB2833, prohibits stopping, parking or leaving vehicles unattended on entrance and exit ramps. The rule applies to paved or unpaved portions of ramps.
Exceptions will be made for emergencies or disabled vehicles.
