5/20/08-Gov. Tim Kaine signed a bill into law to modify rules for how far overweight coal trucks are permitted to travel on Virginia roadways. It takes effect July 1.
The new law, previously HB144, prohibits operation of overweight coal trucks for a distance of more than 85 miles from the preparation plant, loading dock, or railroad.

3/10/08-The Senate unanimously approved a bill that would modify rules for how far overweight coal trucks are permitted to travel on Virginia roadways.
Sponsored by Rep. Terry Kilgore, R-Gate City, HB144 would prohibit operation of overweight coal trucks for a distance of more than 85 miles from the preparation plant, loading dock, or railroad.
The House signed off on Senate changes to the bill. It now moves to Gov. Tim Kaine’s desk.

2/22/08-The House voted 82-15 to approve a bill that would modify rules for how far coal trucks are permitted to travel on Virginia roadways. It’s moved to the Senate.
Sponsored by Rep. Terry Kilgore, R-Gate City, HB144 would eliminate the 85-mile distance limit for coal truck permits. It is in the Senate Transportation Committee.
