1/21/08-The Senate Courts of Justice Committee voted 8-7 to advance a bill that would repeal certain abusive driver fees.
Sponsored by Sen. Phillip Puckett, D-Tazewell, SB411 also would increase the state’s cent-per-gallon fuel tax from 17.5 cents to 20 cents – an increase of 2.5 cents.
Abusive driver fees already paid would be refunded, with interest.
The bill has moved to the Senate Finance Committee.
