1/16/08-A bill in the Senate Finance Committee would repeal certain abusive driver fees.
Sponsored by Sen. J. Chapman Petersen, D-Fairfax, SB444 also would increase the state’s cent-per-gallon fuel tax from 17.5 cents to 19.5 cents – a 2 cent increase.
Half of the revenues from the increase would be desposited into the Biofuels Production Fund to fund grants for biodiesel production. The other half would be routed to the Highway Maintenance and Operating Fund.
