3/28/08-A bill has died that sought to address truck weights.
Sponsored by Sen. Karen Facemyer, R-Jackson, SB86 remained in the Senate Transportation and Infrastructure Committee at the deadline to advance, effectively killing it for the year
The bill would have increased the maximum weight amounts for large trucks equipped with six axles and two additional brakes. Affected tractor-trailers would have been allowed to have a maximum gross weight of 97,000 pounds with a tolerance of 10 percent.
State law now limits these trucks to 80,000 pounds with a tolerance of 10 percent.
