3/5/09-Gov. Mike Beebe signed a bill into law prohibiting drivers under 18 from the use of any mobile device while behind the wheel. It takes effect Oct. 1, 2009.
Previously SB28, the new law allows drivers stopped for another offense who are found to be in violation of the proposed rule to get off with a warning. Repeat offenders would face $50 fines.

12/30/08-Sen. Kim Hendren, R-Gravette, has prefiled a bill for consideration during the session that convenes Jan. 12 that would prohibit drivers under age 18 from the use of any mobile device while behind the wheel.
