4/14/09-Gov. Mike Beebe signed a bill into law strengthening the state’s graduated driver’s license system.
Previously SB309, the new law prohibits drivers under 18 from carrying more than one minor passenger. Exceptions would be made for relatives or if there is a licensed adult in the front passenger seat.
Young drivers also are prohibited from driving between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., except when driving to and from work, attending school functions or for emergencies.

3/5/09-The House voted 58-35 to approve a bill that would strengthen the state’s graduated driver’s license system.

The bill also would prohibit young drivers from driving between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m., except when driving to and from work, attending school functions or for emergencies.
The bill now moves back to the Senate for approval of changes before advancing to Gov. Mike Beebe’s desk.
