8/12/09-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed into law a bill prohibiting commercial vehicles with three or more axles or a gross vehicle weight of at least 9,000 pounds from SR 2 between Big Pines Highway and Interstate 210 in La Canada Flintridge, northwest of Pasadena. The ban took effect immediately.
Previously AB1361, the new law calls for violators to face fines of at least $1,000.
Exceptions to the ban will be made for trucks delivering to or from locations within La Canada Flintridge, or locations accessible only from SR 2. Vehicles involved in the production of television, movies and commercials also will be allowed to use the route.

7/21/09-The Senate voted 33-1 to approve a bill that would prohibit commercial vehicles with three or more axles or a gross vehicle weight of at least 9,000 pounds from SR 2 between Big Pines Highway and Interstate 210 in La Canada Flintridge, northwest of Pasadena. The Assembly then gave unanimous consent to Senate changes to the bill, clearing the way for it to advance to the governor’s desk.
Sponsored by Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, D-La Canada Flintridge, AB1361 would fine violators at least $1,000.
Exceptions to the ban would be made for trucks delivering to or from locations within La Canada Flintridge, or locations accessible only from SR 2. Vehicles involved in the production of television, movies and commercials also would be allowed to use the route.

7/14/09-A bill awaiting consideration before the full Senate would prohibit commercial vehicles with three or more axles or a gross vehicle weight of at least 9,000 pounds from state Route 2 (Angeles Crest Highway) between Big Pines Highway and Interstate 210 in La Canada Flintridge, northwest of Pasadena.
Sponsored by Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, D-La Canada Flintridge, AB1361 would fine violators at least $1,000.
Exceptions to the ban would be made for trucks delivering to or from locations within La Canada Flintridge, or locations accessible only from SR 2.
The Assembly approved it by unanimous consent this spring. If approved in the Senate it would move back to the Assembly for approval of changes before advancing to the governor’s desk.

7/6/09-A bill in the Assembly would prohibit commercial vehicles with three or more axles or a gross vehicle weight of five tons or more from state Route 2 (Angeles Crest Highway) between Big Pines Highway and Interstate 210 in La Canada Flintridge, northwest of Pasadena.
Sponsored by Assemblyman Anthony Portantino, D-La Canada Flintridge, AB1361 would fine violators at least $1,000.
Exceptions to the ban would be made for trucks delivering to or from locations within La Canada Flintridge, or locations accessible only from SR 2.
The Assembly approved it by unanimous consent this spring. It has since advanced from the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee to the Senate Appropriations Committee.
