9/21/09-A bill in the Joint Committee on Transportation calls for a study on replacing the existing toll collection system on the Massachusetts Turnpike with an automated alternative.
Sponsored by Rep. Stephen Canessa, D-Lakeville, H1151 would require the Executive Office of Transportation to work with the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority to carry out an automated toll collection review. The objective would be to study the benefits and challenges of operating a fully-automated toll collection system on all of the state’s toll roads.
The findings and recommendations would be presented to the Joint Transportation Committee within three months of its implementation.
