6/8/09-A bill died that sought to require more stringent proof of legal residence and identity to obtain vehicle licenses, including a CDL.
LB229 remained in the Transportation and Telecommunications Committee when the session ended.
The bill would have required all applicants to prove identity, date of birth, Social Security number, and lawful status through a limited source document list. For all employees who have the ability to affect information appearing on driver’s licenses, background checks would have been required.
