10/27/09-A bill that can be brought back for consideration during the 2010 regular session would affect truck weigh stations.
SB14 would require the Rhode Island Department of Transportation to establish between two and four permanent weigh stations. Fines and penalties for overweight vehicles could be used solely for the repair and maintenance of state roads and bridges.
The bill remained in the Senate Finance Committee when the 2009 regular session ended.
