10/1/09-A bill has died that sought to protect highway money.
Sponsored by Sen. Jim Tracy, R-Shelbyville, SB398 remained in the Senate Transportation Committee.
The bill deleted the authority of the commissioner of finance and administration to transfer department of transportation funds and programs in the highway fund to the state general fund.
The House version – HB1505 – met the same fate. Both bills can be brought back for consideration during the 2010 regular session.
