OOIDA Information Update – Arizona members
July 9, 2010
Attention: Arizona truckers. There is an opportunity Monday, July 12, to make your voice heard on the future of transportation in the Kingman area at a public open house.
The Arizona Department of Transportation and the city of Kingman are working on a long-range transportation plan for the next five, 10 and 20 years. It will update the 2005 Kingman Area Transportation Study and expand the study area from 59 square miles to 165 square miles.
The public open house is billed as a way to allow residents to help shape the plan. City officials are supposed to use the plan’s tools and recommendations to accommodate future growth and development.
Key study components have been identified as relieving future roadway congestion and providing transportation alternatives for the Kingman area. In addition to looking at current roadways, various multimodal recommendations will be discussed.
Monday’s open house is scheduled for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kingman City Council Chambers. The building is located at 310 N. Fourth Street. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 4:15 p.m. to provide an overview of the study.
If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can still offer your two-cents. Any questions or comments related to the Kingman Area Transportation Study should be directed to Project Manager Justin Feek. He can be reached at Arizona Department of Transportation, 206 S. 17th Ave., MD 310B, Phoenix, AZ 85007. Feek can be reached by phone at 602-712-6196, by fax at 602-712-3046, or by e-mail at JFeek@azdot.gov.
Meeting materials are expected to be posted on the project’s website following the open house. A second open house is planned for this fall to allow the public to provide input on the recommendations.
