5/18/10-Gov. Jan Brewer has signed into law a bill that addresses the use of photo cameras throughout the state.
Intended to avoid communities shortening the length of their yellow times, it requires the duration of yellow lights to be at least three seconds.
Previously HB2338, the new law takes effect in late July.

5/3/10-Before adjourning for the year, Arizona lawmakers voted to approve legislation that addresses concern about “gotcha” tickets at intersections with red-light cameras. It now awaits Gov. Jan Brewer’s signature.
Intended to avoid communities shortening the length of their yellow times, HB2338 would require the duration of yellow lights to be at least three seconds.
A separate provision was removed from the final version of the bill that dealt with a one-second rule. It sought to limit tickets issued to those given only if the vehicle is photographed at least one second after the signal turns to a steady red.

3/16/10-The House voted 36-24 to approve a bill that would alter the use of photo enforcement. It now moves to the Senate.
HB2338 would mandate that a violation for running a red light by a photo system could only be given if the vehicle is photographed at least one second after the signal turns to a steady red. Intended to avoid communities shortening the length of their yellow times, the duration of yellow lights would also be set by the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The bill awaits consideration in the Senate Public Safety & Human Services and Rules committees.
