5/3/10-A bill has died that sought to prohibit a photo system from being placed on roads within 600 feet of a speed limit change.
SB1443 remained on the House floor awaiting consideration when the session ended, effectively killing it for the year. The Senate previously approved it.
The bill also required vehicles to travel in excess of 11 mph of the posted limit to set off the cameras. Exceptions would have been made in school and work zones. In addition, 35 percent of fine revenue would have been used for new law enforcement equipment.
In addition, it would have required speed limits and warning signs to be posted near cameras.
