OOIDA Information Update – Florida members
September 24, 2010
Dear Member,
Transportation officials in Florida are getting ready to set toll rates for the connector road that will link I-4 and the Port of Tampa. While there will not be a traditional public hearing that people can attend in person, you can still give FDOT your comments next week during an online webinar. Comments can also be submitted via mail, e-mail or phone.
A schedule of toll rates will be rolled out Thursday, Sept. 30, during the online hearing. The $390 million toll road will connect I-4 with the Lee Roy Selmon Expressway west of 31st Street in Hillsborough County.
Truck tolls are proposed at $5, $2.25 and $1.25 for the toll-by-plate electronic system and $5, $2, and $1 for SunPass account holders. Cash will not be accepted at the all-electronic toll facility.
The webinar is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 30, using a third-party online service. Registration is required to be a part of the webinar. Click here to register. Call FDOT public information at 407-532-3999 for assistance, including translation services.
Participants will be allowed to comment on the proposed toll rates and interact with officials during the webinar.
If you are in the area and do not have a computer, you can still participate. FDOT will have computer access at District 7 Headquarters, 11201 N. Malcolm McKinley Drive, Tampa, FL, just south of the University of South Florida.
Comments can also be submitted in writing to Christa Deason, PIO, Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise, P.O. Box 613069, Ocoee, FL 34761; or by e-mail to christa.deason@dot.fl.us; or by phone at 407-264-3492. The cutoff to submit comments is Oct. 13.
