February 11, 2010
Attention: Florida truckers! There’s an opportunity for you to have your say on a plan to increase tolls on portions of Florida’s Turnpike and to implement a new collection method called “toll by plate.”
The Florida Department of Transportation is scheduled to hold a live Web presentation Thursday, Feb. 18, to discuss the proposal. The time has yet to be announced.
In a nutshell, FDOT is hoping to increase tolls and implement a system on portions of Florida’s Turnpike to photograph license plates and send toll charges through the mail. Generally speaking, toll increases amount to about 25 cents per axle. Click here to view a table of the proposed toll rates.
The hearing will be in the form of a live online presentation called a “webinar.” Participants with Web and e-mail access can log in to hear the presentation and submit questions or comments. A call-in number will also be provided. The hearing may be viewed at five physical locations in Florida.
Participation is free but registration is required. Click here to register online and to view supporting documents.
