OOIDA Call to Action – Virginia members
January 22, 2010
Attention: Virginia truckers! You are encouraged to make your voice heard about an effort to boost the speed limit by 5 mph on some highways throughout the state.
At the encouragement of Gov. Bob McDonnell, the full Senate could take up for consideration as soon as Tuesday, Jan. 26, a bill to increase the 65 mph speed limit to 70 mph for all vehicles on rural sections of interstates where engineers deemed it safe. The bill is SB537.
As the Senate readies for a possible vote on the bill early next week, make sure your Senator gets to hear your perspective on this issue. Also stress to them that whatever the limit is it should be the same for all vehicles.
