Dear Member, The California Assembly could vote as early as Thursday, May 12, on an ill-advised bill that is a direct attack on independent contractor status. The bill would deem drayage truck operators, as well as any owner-operator going onto a port, to be employees of the companies that arrange for their services. Effectively, it would ban owner-operators from the ports.
