Attention Canadian Truckers,
Please be aware that a group of your fellow truckers is gathering on Friday, December 19th in Ayr, Ontario to convoy to Queen’s Park in Toronto in an effort to protest the speed limiter law that goes into effect on January 1, 2009. While this event is not being organized by OOIDA, the Association certainly supports the message that will be conveyed to provincial officials at the event. As you know, OOIDA strongly opposed the speed limiter mandate and continues to fight its implementation. Below are the convoy details and attached is a news article written by David Tanner of Land Line magazine.
Convoy: The “convoy” is meeting at 7:00 a.m. at the Cedar Creek Fuel Centre, 2492 Cedar Creek Rd., in Ayr, Ontario, leaving for Toronto around 9:00 a.m., and expects to be in Toronto (Queen’s Park) around 11:00 a.m. The organizer is Scott Mooney who can be reached at 519-821-2121.

Dear Minister _____________,
I am writing to ask that you do all that you can to stop implementation of Bill 41, a law that mandates speed limiters on all commercial motor vehicles in Ontario. This mandate will have significant safety, economic, and trade implications for our province. Right now we must focus on finding ways to improve highway safety and uplift the economy, not punish businesses and consumers in Ontario who rely on the goods that trucks transport.
Please stop the enforcement of Bill 41.
Sincerely,
XXXX
