Business Seminar
The Foundation Inc. of Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) offers a seminar on Business Management for the owner-operator. The Small Business Administration statistics point out that 95% of all small business ventures fail within the first year. The primary reason is a lack of business management skills. The trucking industry is a unique business with a number of regulations and pitfalls that most drivers have never encountered while working for a company.
OOIDA receives numerous calls each day from members who are seeking information on how to get their own authority, how to become an owner-operator and many other business related questions. In response, OOIDA Foundation contacted members who had become owner-operators within the last five years and asked what types of information would be the most beneficial for those entering the business or improving their existing business practices. Those questions and comments were incorporated into the Business Management Seminar to help respond to the thousands of questions relating to the business of trucking.
The experts in trucking, the employees of OOIDA and the Foundation, conduct a 2 1/2 day seminar open to anyone interested in learning about the business management skills that are unique to the trucking industry. Our research shows that the spouses of drivers often handle the business end of the operation but have very little background to draw upon. The Foundation has researched and found several business management seminars but none of those seminars could offer the 38+ years of experience and practical knowledge focused on trucking related issues as well as OOIDA.
The Membership Department of OOIDA handles the application process and sending out the information for the seminar. The seminar is held at various times throughout the year at the main headquarters of OOIDA in Grain Valley, MO. It is an intense 2 1/2 day seminar. By participating in this seminar, you are taking a giant step in becoming an owner-operator and we’re here to provide the tools necessary to become successful. We know it may be difficult to attend but you are taking an important step in securing your financial future. If you would like to get more information, please call OOIDA at 816-229-5791 and ask for the Membership Department and JoAnn to enroll.
The next seminar will be held March 15 - 17, 2010
