Grover “Dee” Jones

Grover “Dee” Jones, 61, from Redfield, AR, has been an OOIDA member for the past 12 years and is also a life member. Dee has 29 years driving experience and has been an owner-operator for the past year. He is currently leased to Dart and is involved in short-haul operations. Dee believes rates and surcharges, image, and operating costs are three important problems faced by the majority of owner-operators today. He believes OOIDA should continue to lobby for mandatory fuel surcharges until passed, maintain a good image for the public and media and keep looking for additional ways to find discounts for the membership. Dee feels the best way to reach elected officials is through the ballot box. Working for or against a candidate will get his or her attention on trucking issues. Letters also get the attention of lawmakers. Dee is a member of the National Association of Show Trucks, a life member of the National Rifle Association, and a life member of the North American Hunting Club. He enjoys ocean cruises, camping, hunting, truck shows and cooking.
