Daily recordkeeping: OOIDA tells DOT "you are STILL all wet" Last summer, OOIDA submitted comments regarding the industry burden associated with log book recordkeeping, telling the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) that until we get the hours-of-service regs right, why require all that useless information? On Feb. 11, the association submitted additional comments in response to the Agency's revised estimates of the time spent recording, collecting, checking and storing the driver's daily record of duty status information. "Collecting data derived from the fundamentally flawed hours-of-service regulations is a high-priced exercise in futility," says OOIDA Director of Regulatory Affairs, Rick Craig. "In addition to being useless information, it's a huge burden on the industry. FMCSA grossly underestimated the hourly burden the first time around, so they revised their assumptions. They're still way off the mark." To read OOIDA's most recent comments in .PDF format, click here. |
