Senate Transportation Committee approves Elaine Chao as DOT secretary nominee

The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association is looking forward to working with Elaine Chao once she is confirmed as Secretary for the U.S. Department of Transportation. The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation endorsed Elaine Chao by a unanimous voice vote today.  The nomination now moves to a vote on the Senate floor before Chao is officially confirmed as Secretary, which could come later this week.

“We look forward to addressing all the vital issues involving small-business truckers and highway safety regulations,” said OOIDA executive vice president, Todd Spencer. “Chao’s previous experience should assist in successfully bringing an infrastructure bill from discussion to reality.”
