OOIDA sponsors the Truckers for Troops® campaign which raises funds for sending care packages to military serving in combat zones as well as the Veterans Community Project (VCP), making a difference in the lives of homeless veterans.
Since 2007, OOIDA members have raised more than $800,000 for care packages and to support veterans causes
During campaign dates, truckers can join OOIDA or renew membership for a discounted rate of $35 for 1 year. For additional years, the dues structure is 2 years=$70; 3 years=$100; 4 years=$130; 5 years=$150.
10 percent of dues will go toward Trucker for Troops, which sends care packages to U.S. troops overseas and supports the Veterans Community Project. OOIDA matches those funds and members can also donate directly to the fund.

The care packages, a cornerstone of the original campaign, aren’t a shoebox stuffed with a few goodies like one might imagine. Rather they are 24X24X24 inches in size and weigh upwards of 70 pounds. They are packed tight with things ranging from practical like socks to fun stuff like squirt guns and silly string. The care packages typically weigh in at more than 70 pounds and have enough contents to serve an entire unit. It’s important to note that 100% of the money raised goes toward the care packages and Veterans Community Project. All of the packing, mailing, etc., is done by OOIDA volunteer employees to stretch every dollar raised to the max.

Individual tax-deductible contributions to the Truckers for Troops fund are also welcome and can be paid to the OOIDA Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
