The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, the nation’s only organization exclusively representing professional and small-business truckers, thanks the 30 U.S. Senators that recently signed a letter asking the federal government to reform the hours-of-service regulations for commercial truck drivers.
OOIDA requests safer, more flexible HOS for truck drivers
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association, the nation’s only organization representing professional and small-business truckers, has petitioned the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to amend the existing federal hours-of-service regulations. “We think it’s time to seriously address the issue of lack of options available for truck drivers whose schedules are at the mercy of shippers, receivers, weather, congestion, and other obstacles, to operate safely,” said Todd Spencer, acting president and CEO of OOIDA.

Senate Transportation Committee approves Elaine Chao as DOT secretary nominee
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association is looking forward to working with Elaine Chao once she is confirmed as Secretary for the U.S. Department of Transportation. The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation endorsed Elaine Chao by a unanimous voice vote today. The nomination now moves to a vote on the Senate floor before Chao is officially confirmed as Secretary, which could come later this week.
